We have missed traveling back to the Midwest this year to meet with our customers, old and new. It has always been a favored aspect of our business. One of the best parts: opportunities to meet face-to-face with customers back in the Midwest almost always results in some good storytelling time with Keith and Joe, who have both spent most of their lives in the commercial fishing industry in Alaska. And just as many folks in the Midwest look forward to meeting their Alaskan fishermen, we share the same enthusiasm when meeting makers in various industries in the places where we visit, reconnecting us with the Lower 48 states. We are hopeful that we’ll be reunited in the new year.

2020 is almost past us now, and in reflecting on all that’s happened in the last year, I feel an immense amount of gratitude. For the support of our customers (and for their patience as we navigated the new waters of running a small business during a pandemic). For all of our partners— grocery stores, farmers markets, delivery services, and all who help us to transport our fish from the remote, coastal town of Pelican, Alaska to dinner planes across the country. And of course, for the wild salmon that occupy the bountiful waters of Alaska, our home.

Here are a few of our favorite highlights from 2020:

  1. Before the shutdowns, we were able to fly back to Michigan to participate in the 2020 Jelly Bean Jump Up fundraiser with Zingerman’s Roadhouse, where Chef Bob prepared a beautiful meal with our wild Alaska king and coho salmon!

    2. We launched our online store for ordering of our products from anywhere in the country!

    3. We shipped our first order of smoked coho salmon to Oregon (now available at Blue Heron French Cheese Company in Tillamook, OR) and our first order of fresh salmon to New Mexico (available seasonally and frozen year-round at Cid’s Food Market in Taos, NM)!

Thank you for sticking with us through this difficult, unpredictable year. We are honored to be your source for wild Alaska seafood and look forward to continuing to find ways to connect with you in the new year.

Best,

Marie Rose
