FAQs

Why should I purchase frozen seafood?

Frozen is fresh. We sustainably fish for wild salmon, halibut, and lingcod one-by-one using a single hook and line (no nets). Then we vacuum seal and freeze each fillet to be shipped directly to your door. This “fresh frozen” approach preserves the taste and quality you deserve, reduces food waste, and gives Alaska fisherman the opportunity to sell their catch all year round.

Is your Alaska seafood sustainable?

Yes! Our wild Alaska salmon, halibut, and lingcod are fished one by one using hook & line. This allows us to specifically target the species we are fishing for and, in the event that we catch another type of fish on our line, it provides us the opportunity to toss it back into the ocean without harm. This is an incredibly sustainable and environmentally friendly method of commercial fishing.

We also strictly adhere to Alaska Department of Fish and Game guidelines because their mission includes protecting, maintaining, and improving the fish resource of the state of Alaska. If we cannot maintain (at a minimum) and conserve our wild fish population, we will be unable to serve you with the best wild salmon and seafood on the planet. Thus, protecting our environment and preserving what we have is core to our own mission.

Can I order specific cuts of fish?

Because our fish is wild caught, the size and color of each fish varies. For this reason, we cannot guarantee specific cuts or individually package weights. However, we can guarantee that all our fish are handled individually with utmost care.

How is the seafood packaged?

Our fish portions are frozen and vacuum sealed after they are sustainably caught off the coast of Alaska. It is possible that the vacuum seal on a portion of fish will unseal during shipment or in your home freezer. If this occurs, we recommend that you eat this portion first (within 2-3 weeks of receiving) as the quality will decline faster than other portions.

Individual portion sizes range from 0.8-1.2lbs. As such, shipments by the case will be within the following ranges:

· 5 lb case will contain between 4.7-5.1 lbs total

· 10 lb case will contain between 9.8-10.1 lbs total

Starting in August of 2022, all of our frozen fish will ship in Green Cell Foam, the most environmentally sustainable packaging available. Made from US-grown corn, Green Cell Foam is certified compostable in backyard and industrial facilities and can even be dissolved in a sink for safe and easy disposal.

How is the seafood shipped, and when can I expect it?

Frozen fish packages are shipped with UPS or Fedex, depending on your location. You can expect orders to arrive within 2-5 business days after your purchase. However, because of various circumstances (weather, covid-19 pandemic, holidays, UPS/Fedex mishaps, etc.), delivery dates are subject to change.

Subscribers will recieve a monthly order confirmation when they are charged for their next fish box. This order confirmation indicates that your next box will ship within 2-6 business days. If you will not be home to recieve your shipment, please reach out to us by email or phone as soon as possible (within 48 hours of recieving your order confirmation) to reschedule your shipment.

Once your order has shipped, you will recieve another email that includes a tracking number for your shipment.

We do not require signature upon delivery but we recommend that you or an adult household member be home the day of delivery so the fish can be safely transferred to your freezer or refrigerator. If you are not home for your delivery, enough dry ice will be used to insulate your package for at least 5 hours after delivery. Shoreline Wild Salmon is not responsible for your shipment if it is left beyond the 5-hour time frame. You will receive a UPS or Fedex tracking number from Shoreline Wild Salmon when your order ships.

Shelf stable smoked salmon products and apparel are shipped with USPS. As with our frozen products, you will receive a tracking number from us once your order ships. These packages typically arrive within 4- 8 business days.

How much freezer space do I need for my order?

Our salmon fillets are portioned into approximately 1 pound pieces. They are easy to stack (or stuff) into small freezer spaces. A 10 lb order of our salmon takes up about half a cubic foot, which fits easily in a standard upright refrigerator/freezer. For those worried about freezer space, our 5 lb case is a great option!

Can I return my order if I’m not satisfied?

We are committed to providing you the highest quality Alaska salmon and seafood. If you are unhappy with a recent seafood order, please let us know so that we may resolve the issue. Depending on the circumstance, we may replace your shipment or issue a full or partial refund of the purchase price.

Can I cancel my subscription?

Yes, you can cancel your subscription any time. If you need assistance with cancelling your subscription, reach out to us directly by email or phone.
