Landslides and floods in Haines, Alaska

Landslide.jpg

I’ve always tried to nurture transparency between our personal lives and our business in order to provide honest glimpses into life in small-town Alaska. But truthfully, it’s been tough finding the right words to describe recent events. My fiancé, our dog, and I returned home two nights ago after evacuating for a week due to potentially unstable ground on the steep hillside where we live. Haines, Alaska, our home, experienced record breaking rainfall last week, causing catastrophic landslides and floods.

Roads have been destroyed, buildings flooded, homes entirely wiped out, and far far worse, we lost two outstanding community members to one of the slides (pictured here). It’s been an extremely heartbreaking time for our community.

Please keep our town of Haines in your thoughts. The rest of our Shoreline team are safe in Juneau, Pelican, and Michigan. We are continuing to fill orders as they come, and answer emails and messages as they roll in. We really appreciate your continued support.
